Chief Justice of Patna high court opens legal awareness programme for workers
Chief Justice Sangam Kumar Sahoo launched a legal awareness program for Bihar's unorganized and migrant workers. Aimed at informing them about government welfare schemes, the initiative by Bihar Legal Services Authority also saw the Chief Justice distributing financial aid up to Rs 2 lakh to dependents of deceased migrant workers. This program underscores a commitment to worker welfare.
Patna: A legal awareness programme for workers of unorganised sector, including migrant workers of Bihar, was inaugurated by Chief Justice of Patna high court Sangam Kumar Sahoo here on Sunday.Justice Rajeev Ranjan Prasad, a sitting judge of the Patna HC, and Deepak Anand, secretary of state’s labour resources and migrant workers welfare department, also accompanied the Chief Justice during the inauguration of the programme.

The programme, being a part of National Legal Services Authority (Nalsa) 2015 schemes, has been launched by Bihar Legal Services Authority (Balsa), upon the orders of the Chief Justice to make workers of unorganised sector, especially the migrant workers of Bihar, aware about the social security and welfare schemes launched by the state and central govts, through legal volunteers.The Chief Justice handed over bank cheques containing assistance/insurance amount upto Rs2 lakh to several dependents of registered migrant workers of Bihar who died due to accident or biting cold in Punjab and other states. Balsa’s member secretary, judicial officers, district judge and magistrate of Patna and chairman of Bihar State Bar Council Ramakant Sharma were present on this occasion.
